Clydebank and Milngavie MSP Marie McNair has praised the Scottish Government's Housing Action Plan.
The plan's main objective is to ensure no child is left in unsuitable housing.
To achieve this, the Scottish Government will double its acquisitions fund to £80 million this year, bringing the total additional targeted investment to £120 million.
This funding will help secure at least 1,200 homes over the next 18 months, providing permanent tenancies for 600 to 800 children currently in temporary accommodation.
The Housing Secretary has also announced an extra £2 million of discretionary housing payments to assist households in temporary housing to find permanent homes, with plans for a long-term system of rent controls.
From March 2026, Awaab’s Law will be introduced.
Marie McNair MSP said: "A safe, secure, warm home is vital for a life of dignity and opportunity, and too many children in Clydebank and Milngavie are yet to experience that.
"Following Brexit and economic mismanagement by Westminster, too many families in Clydebank and Milngavie have been forced into unsuitable housing conditions, and the SNP is determined to end that for good.
"As part of John Swinney’s mission to eradicate child poverty, the investment and action announced this week will directly help families.
"This SNP government is taking action to improve lives across Clydebank and Milngavie – that’s what you get with the SNP, progress delivered and, ultimately, a fresh start with independence."
