On Wednesday, the SNP released their list of candidates for the Scottish Parliament election, which includes Marie, who is looking to be elected for another five years.
The former St Margaret of Scotland Hospice nurse was first elected in 2003 to West Dunbartonshire Council for the Clydebank Waterfront Ward.
Originally a local politician for Scottish Labour, she left the party and stood as an independent councillor before the 2014 referendum, and the subsequent Yes campaign led to her joining the SNP.
Marie McNair said: "It is such an honour to have been re-selected by the SNP to stand as the candidate for the Clydebank and Milngavie constituency at the 2026 Scottish Parliament elections.
"It has been the privilege of my life to represent the constituency that I was born, raised and still live in.
"Throughout the past four years, I have worked hard to support my constituents with whatever issues came their way, and I am thoroughly proud of the outcomes my team and I have achieved.
"In Parliament, I have been a strong advocate for our constituency, speaking up on issues that affect local people – from child poverty and asbestos exposure to WASPI compensation and increasing investment for Scotland.
"I will always put my constituents, and Scotland first and will campaign hard to be re-elected in 2026 to continue this approach."
Marie's election in 2021 had her taking over from her SNP predecessor Gil Paterson, who held the post for 10 years.
She continued: "As part of the SNP team, we will scrap Labour’s two-child cap that is keeping children in poverty, we will stand firmly behind WASPI women, we will scrap peak-rail fares, we will protect pensioners with a winter fuel payment, deliver 100,000 extra GP appointments, and so much more.
"From free prescriptions and free university tuition, to cheaper water bills and free childcare, the SNP is putting you first.

"I will continue to work hard for my constituents to deliver for the Clydebank and Milngavie constituency. You will always come first, so please do not hesitate to get in touch with me for help. I am on your side."
