A newly-reopened museum shining a light on Clydebank’s history has received praise from a local MSP.

Marie McNair, SNP MSP for Clydebank and Milngavie, visited the Clydebank Museum, Local History and Archive Service on August 8 to see the newly redeveloped facility located on the basement floor of Clydebank Library.

Opened in July 2025, the museum tells the story of Clydebank and the surrounding area, featuring a wide collection of books, maps, photographs, postcards, newspapers and other historical materials.

Ms McNair said: “It was great to visit the new Clydebank Museum, Local History and Archive Service.

“It is fantastic to see the rich history of Clydebank and the surrounding area being celebrated.

“The museum covers topics such as the Clydebank Blitz and hosts an exhibition from the Singer Sewing Machine Collection.

“There is a wide range of museum objects on display and there are great interactive activities available for kids too.

“I was proud to support the facility’s redevelopment, and I am delighted to see how popular the new museum and archive service have been with locals.

“I would encourage everyone to go along and take advantage of this fantastic new development.”
